H&H Total Care is awarded 17 New Beds for The Hamlets at Penticton
Interior Health issued a series of Request for Proposals (RFPs) in September 2016 for the design, construction and operation of 243 new residential care beds in communities across Interior Health.
“Our population is aging and becoming more medically complex. Conditions such as dementia are on the rise,” said Interior Health Board Chair John O’Fee. “The addition of 243 beds across Interior Health will benefit seniors and others who need around-the-clock care.”
After reviewing the proposals, Interior Health awarded 17 complex care beds to our facilities at H&H Total Care Services Inc. in Penticton, BC. We expect the beds at The Hamlets Penticton will be open in the fall of 2018.
As called for in the RFPs, our building environment is homelike and not institutional-feeling, and is designed with flexibility and innovation in mind. We make sure our residents and staff are safe and our facilities operate efficiently. H&H Total Care assisted living residences are environmentally responsible in design, construction and operations, and include dementia-friendly elements.
The RFP sought proposals from operators with experience in residential care project development and operation and seniors care, with consideration of First Nations engagement and cultural safety.
Other requirements for the RFPs included whether consultation with the local community happened during the design development and completion of the seniors’ care projects.
Andre Van Ryk, Chief Administrator of H&H said, “H&H is thankful for the opportunity to expand its partnership with Interior Health at The Hamlets at Penticton. We have been collaborating with Interior Health on many different initiatives, such as specific First Nations programming, and this added support will enable our team to further improve the quality of life of those in our care.”
