How Seniors Can Get the Most out of Penticton’s Fall Season
Penticton is beautiful all year round. And there are plenty of activities for seniors. But the fall has some special charm, and here are some ideas for activities seniors can enjoy in Penticton.
Wineries
Most of the wineries are about throughout the year. Visit one or more of them. Be sure to call ahead and make sure they are open. Some are quite scenic and will show you how they make wine in addition to having tastings. There are many wineries or vineyards in the area, including the Bench 1775 Winery, Hillside Winery, La Frenz Winery, and the Red Rooster Winery.
The Penticton Farmers Market
The farmers market is open on Saturdays from 8:30 to 1:00 P.M. on the 100 block of Main Street. Take a stroll and see over 70 vendors. There will definitely be some pumpkins and gourds in October and November. Vendors will be sanitizing their counters, so don’t worry.
Artisan’s Holiday Market
November 5 to 7, there will be an Artisan’s Christmas Craft Fair at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. It will be a great opportunity to pick up some holiday gifts or just browse the crafts.
Outdoor Parks
The fall is a beautiful time of year to explore some of the parks and gardens. Go for a walk and watch the leaves changing color at Okanagan Lake Park, Rotary Park, or Skaha Lake Park. There is also the Xeriscape Garden and the Ikeda Japanese Garden.
There are year round activities in Penticton, but while the weather is still mild, we recommend getting some fresh air and enjoying the outside activities while you still can. Seniors can find interesting things to do at wineries, parks, and the farmer’s market. Enjoy them before the snow comes!
