Okanagan Fall Activities for Seniors

Okanagan Fall Activities for Seniors

October 25th, 2017

Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year in the Okanagan. With autumn, comes a variety of exciting actives that our resident seniors are encouraged to check out. Full of history, nature, and arts, the Okanagan is a community for all ages to enjoy, with plenty of activities that seniors and their families can enjoy together in the fall season.

Here is a list of activities you won’t want to miss:

Heritage Stops

The Okanagan offers a variety of history-centric tours, including heritage homes; churches; gardens; and railways. The Kettle Valley Railway, located in Myra Bellevue Provincial Park, is a popular stop based around a restored 1900’s line that once carried passengers and fruit across the country.

Bird Watching

Nature lovers will enjoy the variety of birds in the Okanagan – featuring some of the best bird watching in all of BC thanks to the unique landscape of the area. Bird lovers be sure to pack their binoculars and head out to one of the popular viewing spots in the area: Munson’s Pond, Roxby Bird Sanctuary, or Carney Pond.

Golf

The Okanagan is home to more than twenty individual golf courses, several of which powered carts with navigation systems and seniors rates!

Wine Tours

We wouldn’t be talking about the Okanagan if we didn’t talk about wine tours. Vineyards are aplenty in the beautiful Okanagan, many of which offer tours and tastings. Experts will teach about how the valley became the “Napa of the North” with insider’s knowledge on the wine industry. Taste some of the best wines in the Okanagan!

Farm Tours

The Okanagan is home to some more “out of the box” farm tours for those that are interested – including lavender farms, cheese factories, and honey farms – all of which offer tours!

Because of the beautiful mild climate of the Okanagan, seniors can find many outdoor activities all throughout the autumn season. From golf, to wine, to nature tours – the Okanagan has it all, and in an accessible manor for seniors in the area.
